Twin Block retainers are used during braces treatment

Speech

It will take some time to get used to wearing your twin blocks. In the beginning, you may find your speech is affected. This is normal and will go away once you get used to speaking with them in.

Cleaning

To brush your teeth: take out your twin blocks, brush your teeth as normal using toothpaste then brush your twin blocks under cold running water.

Eating

You can take them out to eat. Make sure you put them straight back in afterwards.

Storage

When your twin blocks have been removed for eating or for playing contact sports, they should be placed in the safety box provided. If they are placed in a tissue or in your pocket, they may be lost or damaged.

Gumshield to wear during contact sports for people with braces.

An absolute must have for contact sports when you have braces. Protect your teeth, cheeks and gums.

Sports

If you play contact sports you should take out your retainer while you are playing and wear a gum shield instead (put them in your safety box to keep them safe)

Today when you go home and after appointments in the future when your braces are adjusted your teeth might feel a bit sore/tight/tender, this is normal. This can last for 2-3 days. It’s because your teeth are starting to move. If pain relief is required, take what you would usually take for a headache, ibuprofen has been proven to be effective.

What do Twin Block Retainer do?

Twin Block retainers are used during braces treatment to align a more harmonious bite. These orthodontic appliances are designed to correct the position of the jaw and teeth. They consist of two separate parts, one for the upper teeth and one for the lower teeth, which fit together to reposition the jaws and encourage proper alignment of the teeth. These retainers are often used to address issues such as overbite or underbite by gradually guiding the jaws into a more balanced position.
